Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most well-known roles are Shannon Rutherford, a character from ABC's Lost series as well as Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington in Ohio. She dropped out of school when her parents divorced to go to Los Angeles to live with her mother. After a string of commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center in 2006 she gained greater recognition when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). In recognition of her role as the single mother, in Crazy Heart (2009) she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. After that she was able to star in comedies and dramas like Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Will Not Back Down (12). The other roles she's played included Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 an action thriller), musicians in Frank (2014 and drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) as well as The Kindergarten Teacher. Gyllenhaal debuted as a writer and director in 2021, with the psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For this film she was awarded with the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and nominated for an Academy Award.
